Vibration Test

Trigger short, long and patterned vibrations to check your phone's vibration motor.

Android only

How to use

  1. 1Make sure vibration isn't disabled in your phone's sound or accessibility settings.
  2. 2Tap a pattern button.
  3. 3Feel for a strong, even buzz without rattling.
  4. 4Tap Stop to cancel a running pattern.

Why this only works on Android

This test uses the web Vibration API. Chrome, Samsung Internet, Firefox and most other Android browsers support it. Apple doesn't allow websites to vibrate an iPhone, so on iOS no browser can run this test. To check vibration on an iPhone, toggle the ring/silent switch or use Settings > Sounds & Haptics.

What a healthy motor feels like

The buzz should start and stop crisply and feel consistent across short and long pulses. A weak, uneven or rattling vibration can point to a worn motor, a loose component or a case pressing against the motor.

If nothing happens

  • Check that vibration or haptics are on in your phone settings.
  • Battery saver modes sometimes disable vibration — turn it off and retry.
  • Some browsers block vibration until you've tapped the page; tap a button again.
  • Try another browser like Chrome.
  • If the motor never works in any app, it may need replacing.

Patterns explained

Short and long pulses test basic response. Heartbeat and SOS patterns check that the motor can start and stop quickly in sequence, which reveals sluggish motors that only fail on rapid patterns like keyboard haptics.

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't this work on my iPhone?

iPhone browsers do not support the Vibration API, so websites cannot make an iPhone vibrate.

Which Android browsers support vibration?

Chrome, Samsung Internet, Firefox, Edge and most Chromium-based browsers.

My phone vibrates weakly — is it broken?

Not necessarily. Some phones have gentler motors. Compare with notification vibration in settings.

Can vibration testing harm the motor?

No, these are short patterns similar to normal notifications.

Why does vibration stop when I switch tabs?

Browsers stop vibration when the page is hidden.

Does battery saver affect vibration?

Yes, some power-saving modes reduce or disable vibration.
